A while ago Miriam tagged me on YouTube which sort of forced me to make a Vlog, especially because I had told her before that I had been thinking about making one. And since I have not updated my blog in a very long while I felt I should share it with you.
Sometimes I just can’t help but…

…feel a little touched at the sight of something beautiful that the internet achieved. I spotted this in my news feed on facebook today and I absolutely had to share it with you.
This happened not even two weeks ago which, in internet terms, means it is already old again, but as I said, I only saw it today and really felt the need to share it.
Now, I don’t know how you all feel about war. I can only speak for myself here and I know for sure that I do not like fighting, I do not like people getting killed or hurt (even though I dislike mankind occasionally, but that is a different topic) and most definitely I do not like the people who make the decision of going to war sitting comfortably at home and watching the progress on the news.
There are things I might fight for, like people I love, property I own, my basic rights, but I refuse to support any war against a whole country. As human beings we should be better than to just take them as one entity and fight them all. War causes pain and pain is what creates hate towards the people who caused the pain. So what is the point here? It will just go on like that. Someone has to make a start in stopping this and this start has been made. I don’t care how many we are or how long it will take for the governments to change their ways of thinking (or getting replaced entirely), but I am on the side of the pacifists.

Hm, I almost feel like opening up a “politics” category for my post. Some of the things that are going on right now are just too interesting. We are living in a weird and unstable world and I am curious to see where it all will lead.
For any new people around here, I have a facebook page and twitter, both linked to the left. And I will try and maybe blog about something non-political next time (unless something comes up of course ^^).
I will end this post with the words of Ellen DeGeneres because they fit in so beautifully (and I’ve always wanted to say/write that): “Be kind to one another!”

I know I haven’t written much lately and I wonder if I even still have readers (I hope I do), but I need a bit of time occasionally until I find something that I want to share with you. Sadly this time it is mostly worrying news.
SOPA and PIPA have been a big topic at the end of last year and after that ACTA appeared out of the darkness in which it had been hiding. Now I do not have any exact information on SOPA and PIPA but ACTA is currently being reviewed by the Court of Justice which sounds better as it is, but the protests still achieved something there. During the time I spent online to do some research about the whole matter I came across Anonymous. Before that I had only heard about them in the news, when they had taken down a website, but the more time I spent researching, the more I realized that they were not the simple troublemakers I had been told they were. They have no leader, no profit from their actions and are willing to face imprisonment to fight against censorship, corrupt politicians and much more, for the freedom of all.
When they actually hack into a server (mostly they just take down websites, which is still ilegal but does NOT cause any damage) they try to find evidence of illegal and/or highly questionable acts that have been kept secret from the people and make it public. Targets here are mostly govenments (they had their part in the uprisings in the arabic countries last spring and still have) and related organisations (CIA, FBI, etc.). I’ve seen some videos online that call Anonymous “terrorists”, but I can not find anything dangerous about them. They protect our right of free speech, our right to protest when we are not happy with decisions our government makes and, whereas the means might be questionable, I can not see anything wrong with that in general.
Speaking of the right to protest I also found this today: “US Congress passes authoritarian anti-protest law”
Why is not every single man and woman in the US on the street protesting against that? Is it just my youthly enthusiasm or is there something wrong in this country?

NaNoWriMo: Conclusions

This year’s NaNoWriMo has been over for a while now and I had this blog entry planned out for about almost two weeks, but never got around to post it. I hope you want to read about it anyway.
So, for my very first attempt at NaNoWriMo I think I did quite well (my stats). And even though the story that I wrote does probably not have the most ingenious plot nor very interesting characters, I am proud to announce that I made it to the 50 000 words anyway. But do not ask me how. Not even I know. Fortunately Read the rest of this entry »
NaNoWriMo: My writing playlist

Almost a week into NaNo I finally found some music that gets me into a very energetic mood and hopefully gets me into writing mood too! It is currently 3am and I am wide awake, so let’s see where this music takes me. Even though I write about vampires (NOT the sparkling kind, but those who rip out throats and stuff) I found all the gothic music I love so much a bit too depressing for writing so I got all the pop music out that I had mixed it with some metal and some electronic music et voila: there you have it! My very own writing playlist. I’m sharing it without commentary notes and I don’t take responsibility from what will happen when you listen to the songs
. Happy writing everyone!

NaNoWriMo: Finding friends!

In my part of the world we have about 1 1/2 days left until the madness that is NaNoWriMo begins!
During the last couple of days I have been looking for fellow authors on WordPress to gather some writing buddies. It is after all a social experience too and I think it helps a lot if you have different people to share your thoughts with. And most of all you can help each other in case you get stuck at some point. So this very short blog post is mostly to tell all of you other authors out there that I am doing NaNoWriMo this year and that I’d love to meet as many of you as I can. And if you want another writing buddy feel free to add me, my nickname there is the same as here, but please leave a comment on this post so I know who you are. Thank you and happy writing!

It’s the 24th of October! And that means NaNoWriMo starts in just 7 days! This is going to be my first time participating and I am really, really excited. For those of you who don’t know what NaNoWriMo is: It’s basically a challenge to write 50 000 words in the 30 days of November and the link to the official website where you can get more information is right HERE. Know how to knit?

After my two months of absence from most of the internet, for which I apologize, I am finally back! And boy, I have a lot to tell! Readers of my “The Normal Couple”-Blog will know that my boyfriend (Jase) finally came over to Germany for a while and I will tell you about that on said other blog very soon. Here my next posts will be about how I turned all this sadness about him having to go back to New Zealand into … let’s say: something more useful. And also, due to the lack of pets, I have developed a huge obsession with growing plants, but more about that in my next post.
Today’s post is going to be about knitting! Read the rest of this entry »

Okay, I will post this exact note on both my blogs to let you know I’m still alive.
I had an amazing time with Jase here, but sadly he had to go back to New Zealand last Thursday. But now I do have to get all of you up to date with what happened and I really hope you’re still interested. There will be some photos, a wedding, a palace, a strange anniversary gift and lots more!

I woke up this morning at 5:40 (which was unpleasant but not totally unexpected as I had to get up at 5:25 everyday this semester) and after a little while I sort of fell asleep again. I know this does not sound too spectacular and definitely not like I should write about it, but hear me out and then judge my reasons. I’m saying “sort of fell asleep” because I’m not sure I was asleep, but I surely was not awake. I think it must have been one of those states of mind where you daydream without being able to control it. Read the rest of this entry »
